The Trapper Creek Glen Homeowners Association board is now accepting trail maintenance project proposals for the 2017 season.   They are due by Jan. 15, 2017.   Each project proposal must contain the following;

  • ·       The name and contact information of the person or persons who will organize the project, set the date(s) the work will commence and round up needed volunteers to complete the project.
  • ·       The location of the proposed project, i.e. street name and general description of the area that is familiar to property owners.
  • ·       Description of the work to be completed.
  • ·       An estimate of materials needed, i.e.  quantity of lumber, nails or fuel.
  • ·       Estimate of cost for materials.
  • ·       Any additional details, descriptions and comments about the project. (Will you need the HOA tractor, gravel-hauling trailers, or additional rental of equipment?)

Submit project proposals to board president Rob Carter at rtwcarter@gmail.com by January 15, 2017.  The board will meet to review submitted proposals in late January.  Approved proposals will be announced at the HOA annual meeting the first or second week of March.  (In February, you’ll be notified by mail of the annual meeting date; it will also be posted on the HOA website www.tcghoa.org.)

Please be aware that multiple occurrences of theft have taken place at the Mile 118 parking lot, trail head, and trail easement.  Thieves have broken into vehicles; siphoned gas tanks; cut gas lines; stolen trailers; removed batteries, light bars, and other parts and equipment from both vehicles and ATVs; etc.  The thievery has occurred numerous times both during daylight and nighttime.  Please exercise caution when entering the parking lot and be attentive of strangers.  Please secure your belongings and remove them from visibility (although this doesn’t seem to deter them much).  Please report all theft to the Alaska State Troopers as they are actively investigating the numerous reports of theft in our parking lot and the surrounding areas.

Planning trail work on West Hugo (continue fabric & gravel) and Scrimshaw (boardwalk sections from West Hugo) for Saturday, July 2nd. We’ll start about 10 am, meet on West Hugo or Charlie’s place. Hopefully, this will get both sections close to finished.

Then, we’ll need to haul gravel on the main trail in a few places on subsequent weekends. This includes east end of boardwalk, approaches to both Deep Creek and Moon Lake bridges as well as minor muddy spots between Moon Lake and Bear Hill. We’ll plan to do something most Saturdays in July to get the trail fixed.

Work parties will be conducted each weekend in June and July to install boards along Hugo Loop, north of the section line in front of lots 4,5,6,7,8, and 9 of Block 32 and on over to the junction of Hugo Loop and Cleveland Red Road. Contact Jason via text at 907-529-2360 to participate and obtaining updates.

Planning to work on the West Hugo trail Saturday, May 28, starting about 10 am.  We’ll be pulling boardwalk and laying down fabric and gravel starting just north of the intersection of Hugo and Whispering Woods.  The boardwalk sections (if we can keep them together) will need to get moved to Scrimshaw to finish up that project (at the same time if enough people show up to help).

We’ll have the two HOA  belly dumps and hoping to get another from National Park Service for that weekend.   So, need couple people with 4-wheelers to pull belly dumps, others to dismantle boardwalk and some to stretch fabric and help get gravel out of trailers.  Bring hammer, pry bars, rake, etc.

Burn permits are now required for use of burn barrels.  For full information and to apply for a permit go to this Alaska Department of Natural Resources website.  https://dnr.alaska.gov/burn?fuseaction=permits.doShowAreaSpecificInfo&firearea=M

Our low snow year translates to high fire danger.  Please use extra caution with fires or equipment that could spark a fire.

Minutes for the 2016 Annual Meeting are now available to view.  Just click on the Meetings & Minutes page located in the list on the right side of this page.

Don’t forget to attend the Annual Meeting to be held at 1pm Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Sheep Creek Lodge (event room), Mile 89 of the Parks Highway near Willow, Alaska.  If you are unable to attend, please consider designating a proxy (see Home Page link to the proxy form).  We need 23 people in attendance, either in person or by proxy, to have a quorum to hold the meeting.

The date for hauling lumber will be March 19, 2016.  Lumber will need to be hauled from both the 118 and 120 parking lots.  Meet in the parking lots about 10am.

Trail work will take place August 1 & 2, 2015, beginning at 10am each day.  Meet at the swamp at about mile 2 of the 118 Trail (past the Ridge Trail, before the lake).  Work will consist of removing and reinstalling an existing boardwalk.  Bring hammers and pry bars.
